Following a complaint from a mother, police in Malakand Butkhela, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, arrested a girl who was posing as a boy while making videos for TikTok. The young TikToker was found to be using a fake gender identity and regularly sharing inappropriate content on the platform.
The girl’s mother reported that her daughter was presenting herself as a boy on TikTok and emphasized that this type of content is detrimental to society and has a negative impact overall.
In response to the complaint, officials at the Kot Levy Police Station detained the girl, who was subsequently arrested and taken to jail. However, the situation changed when her mother requested the police to release her daughter. She apologized on behalf of her daughter and expressed a desire to restrict such inappropriate activities. Based on this agreement, the officials decided to release her on bail.
According to the police, a key condition of her release is that she has signed a formal document promising not to create similar content in the future and to completely stop using the TikTok platform.
This incident has sparked a debate about parental authority online and the legal mechanisms used to regulate online behavior in the region.
